About the Leland Lodge
The Leland Lodge is nestled in the heart of Leelanau. The area is known best for the Sleeping Bear Dune National Lakeshore, M-22, wine tours, beautiful beaches, and scenic nature hikes. Although there is nothing like Summertime in Northern Michigan, Fall, Winter, and Spring are just as charming. The Lodge is open year-round to make sure you and yours can experience all four seasons.
The Nicholas Hotel was first built and opened in 1909, and has remained a favorite for food, lodging, and cheer ever since. The uplifting spirit in the Lodge lasts even through hard times, in 1926 the Lodge burned to the ground and was reconstructed the following year. After being rebuilt, Josh Fisher of Grand Rapids renamed the hotel “The New Nicholas Hotel.” In 1946, the hotel came to be what we know today, The Leland Lodge. In the 1960s, The Lodge’s classic oak paneling was installed. In November of 2012, the Lodge was purchased by its current owners and went through impressive renovations to maintain the atmosphere that is revered by our guests. For over 100 years, good cheer starts here.
